We have one PRD system with MAX DB ,we want to restore the complete data backup from PRD to DEV system which one installed newly for testing purpose.

I tried to restore but it is failing.

I have a follow up question as well on the above subject, I found contradicting information. As per Note 822239 point 14F SQLDBC version should be at 7.7.07 build 41 or higher for all platforms (we are at 7.7.7.032).  In another note, 1716826, it says we can go for Kernel 721_EXT as long as we are at least version 7.7.04.09 of the MaxDB Client software (SQLDBC). I thought if pre-requisite is missing for 720_REL kernel upgrade, it should also miss for 721_EXT. Any thoughts please.

Also, per PAM(screen dump attached), Kernel 721_EXT is for database version 7.8 however note 1716826 again contradicts this. Please advise if we can go for 721_REL_EXT Patch 100 directly rather than going for 720_REL Patch 402 patch.

I installed a Content Server 6.40 (newest patch) on SuSE SLES 11 SP1 with a MaxDB 7.8 (64 Bit, newest build) and apache 2.2.24. Apache server seems to work fine but a http-request (serverinfo) within the browser returns:

Hello,

i'm pretty new to SAP and MaxDB. Unfortunalty we had a server crash and i had to reinstall SAP ECC 6.0 along with MaxDB 7.6 as it was delivered in these versions and installed on the crashed mashine.

The new mashine also has a new name. This seems to be the problem while trying to recover the database.

MaxDB Studio gives me the following error trying to recover first the volume, then the logs:

We follow distributed architecture for all our installations. Our server platform in AIX 6.1. Wondering whether we can install MaxDB database instance (7.8) on one host, Content Server and Cache Server on different host?

I found doc "Installation - Content Server 6.40 on UNIX.pdf". Did not mentioned any thing in this doc.  Sorry, I could not find any other docs. If anyone can guide me to find necessary docs that would be a great help.

the latest MaxDB parameter check file attached to a SAP note and also available on scn seems to be from April 2011 and is 2 years old.

Given that quite a number of new patch levels for MaxDB 7.6, 7.7 and 7.8 have been released in the meantime

is there any newer version available somewhere ?

we have upgraded a system from 4.70 Extension Set 110 to ECC 6.0 EHP 5. After the Upgrade the Application ID and the Application Server is missing in DB50.

Call transaction DB50 ---> Performance ---> Sperren ---> SQL-Sperren: Uebersicht

The values of the fields Application ID and Application Server will not be displayed.

What could be the reason ?

Hi gurues, I'm facing this issue with an IDES on MaxDB with Windows.

System was up and running until someone tries to make an upgrade of the kernel. Since then we can not start our system. we tried to rollback kernel release to the previous one but it didn't work.

When we start our system from MMC console we can see all process in green but work processes are in RUN state and after a few minutes they goes down with the following error

So i've stopped the database, run a "check database structure and clear converter in operational state ADMIN".

The test ran for 3 hours, without any error. After that i've restared the database, and run a update sttistics on the involved table. No error.

Hi all,

the latest MaxDB parameter check file attached to a SAP note and also available on scn seems to be from April 2011 and is 2 years old.

Given that quite a number of new patch levels for MaxDB 7.6, 7.7 and 7.8 have been released in the meantime

is there any newer version available somewhere ?

Hi Experts,

we have two SAP content servers:

- An old one Win2k3 (32bit) with MaxDB 7.6.00.18 and nearly 200GB of data

- A new Win2008R2 server (64bit) with SAP MaxDB 7.8.02.29 and 150GB of data

We´d like to move all data from the old 7.6 DB onto the new server.

Does anyone have a "best practice" for that?

On both CS we do a daily full backup into the filesystem.

Is there a possibility to recover the 7.6 backup on the "new" server into the 7.8 environment?

Any further suggestions? Export / import?

Hello,

Since two weeks I'm not able to start a NW7.3 System. After several checks I figured out that the database (MaxDB 7.8 on Windows) does not start. There were no changes in Hardware or OS, Kernel was not updated/upgraded. The System was running since installation in May 2012.

dbmcli db_enum does work:

But my problem is, that when I run dbmcli -u superdba,***** -d NWD db_online, there is no further reaction. Unfortunatelly the MaxDB logfiles (knlmessage etc.) were not updated, so I have no hint what I should check as nect.

So my question would be: is there any other MaxDB tool or log file, which can help me to solve this issue - or get at least a hint on the reason why the database can't start any more? Or maybe is an update to 7.9 a possible solution?

We have one PRD system with MAX DB ,we want to restore the complete data backup from PRD to DEV system which one installed newly for testing purpose.

I tried to restore but it is failing.

Can you please share how to do restore with another system data.
